Surjagarh is not a fort but a range of mountains located approximately 15 km from the village of Etapalli in Gadchiroli district, Maharashtra. It consists of four nearly vertical mountains that are considered sacred by indigenous tribes, who believe the "bada deo," the greatest god, resides on them. Due to its religious significance, the mountains are climbed only once a year during a pilgrimage that takes place in the first week of January on an auspicious day.
