Agra city information
Agra is a city in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is situated on the banks of the Yamuna River and is approximately 206 kilometers south of India's capital, New Delhi. Agra is a popular tourist destination because of its rich cultural heritage and architectural marvels.
One of the most famous tourist attractions in Agra is the Taj Mahal, which is a mausoleum built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is considered one of the seven wonders of the world and attracts millions of visitors every year.
Apart from the Taj Mahal, Agra is also home to other historical monuments and structures such as the Agra Fort, the Itimad-ud-Daulah tomb, and the Fatehpur Sikri, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Agra is also known for its rich cuisine, including Mughlai and North Indian dishes such as biryani, kebabs, and tandoori chicken.
The climate in Agra is generally hot and dry, with temperatures reaching up to 45°C (113°F) in the summer months (May-June) and dropping to around 5°C (41°F) in the winter (December-January).
Agra has its own airport, the Agra Airport, and is well connected by rail and road to other major cities in India such as Delhi, Jaipur, and Mumbai
